Anyone that has known me can attest to that. For years I've dated, had maaaad crushes, and even loved once at least I thought it was. I was convinced that guys just seriously don't like me and that I will always be one of the boys (I have a comic book dealer for god sakes). Like all any normal single girl I've read the bible Greg Behrendt's He's just not into you, watched all the sex and the city episodes and wished for the best every birthday candle since I started liking boys, and even the occasional 11:11 time stamps. I was starting to believe that I was on the path to cougarism. It wasn't until I was facebook creeping when reality literally stomped me in the face after looking at some couples anniversary pics I thought to myself "I am not going to put myself through this, I am tooo awesome". I started to not fret about not finding someone but actually started to find myself, what I like, and attributes I posses. When you begin to love yourself you start to appreciate those around you and that aura alone is enough to catch any guy's attention from a 10 mile radius.

I'm not going to preach about loving yourself because god knows I'm still on that road. It's about getting out of your own head and actually noticing your surroudings. I purchased a British Glamour magazine and one of the articles was "Get a Date by Saturday" by Nikki Bayley at first glance I called bullshit. I started to read the article and thought hmm I'm going to try this method to prove it doesnt work. One of the advice was "don't dissmiss daytime rendezvous, and don't discriminate; talk to as many guys as possible, say there are 2 guys you think are hot in the room, start talking to the guys near them. You 'warm up' socially and the guy you like sees that you talk to everyone. When you do speak to him, he assumes you're just being sociable, it takes the pressure off". I'm not one for silly games, but I was in the prospect to prove this is wrong. So come Thursday I spot 1 guy on the train and decide to spark a conversation with a simple " do you know what time we'd be getting to so and so (destination)". He kindly responded with the estimated time and proceeded to tell me his long wait time from there we talked through the whole train ride and then he asked me for my coordinates (number, facebook, etc) I was starting to change roles, what was now a prospect to prove the article wrong made me think shit this might actually work. We both left the platform with an exchange of twitter accounts. Next up street car, I spot 2 guys and decided to spark another conversation which they were more than happy to assist me in my daytime endeavors, which proceeded to an exchange of names. Although I'm still expiramenting so far from my observations is that guys arn't afraid to talk, they actually like to talk! this simple method actually works! I'm not out looking for love though I'm out looking for a good conversation with the opposite sex. SO single people all is not lost!! and because I too love listening to mushy songs and ugly crying here is my gift to you on valentines day from ATG Records:

All Things Go Valentines Mixtape VI

Finding your niche

About 8 months ago I truly didn't know what the hell I was doing with my life, or what direction I wanted to be in career wise. It honestly took a good friend to take me to timmies and on a tissue I wrote down my goals, hopes and aspirations. Although I'm not yet truely doing what I want to do in terms of my career I'm getting pretty darn close. It truely does take patience and the reality is I'm not the only 20 something year old writing down my goals on a used tissue. Alot of 20 something year olds today are not working into the careers they truely want to be in, after university theres a good percentage of students who are in a somewhat career limbo..I know I definitely was. It takes self reflection and maybe some out of town trips here and there to really figure out what YOU want for your life. Miley Cyrus was right..it's all about the climb, and of course some good books and a motivational speech.

A friend of mine recommended Sally Hogshead's Radical Careering, now I'm not one to usually read self-help books very often but this e-book surprised me and is definitely worth the time. It's also incredibly free (just click the link)

Radical Careering by: Sally Hogshead

Larry Smith's inspirational speech (courtesy of another good friend)

Intergrating

Upon reading the first couple of posts I've come to realized that each post was about moving forward, and new beginnings..and they're a little bit redundant. I apologize and from here on out no more preachy-esque posts, I finally have my DSLR which has me excited to blog again. I've finally found my comfort zone. Moving forward with my sisterblog eduplate in the works for a re-launch I'm going to posts my own personal recipes and foodie ventures here. What I have planned for eduplate is to really expand it into a foodie community where friends and strangers can share their own foodscapades, recipes, and recommendations. So in the mean time here is my current obsession: Raw Salmon

Smoked salmon sandwich on toasted rye with alfalfa sprouts, cucumbers and mediterranean herbed goat cheese .

Sashimi, red dragon rolls, california rolls

I honestly can O.D on Salmon and I'd be okay with that (joking of course)

Out with the old and in with the new!

First and foremost, Happy Belated New Year!!!! 2012 is actually here and were all still alive.

I get pretty nostalgic thinking about 2012 it reminded me of my senior year in highschool when we went to those retreats and reflected on life and dreamt about where we'd be by 2012. If we'd be what we wanted to be, or if all our goals will be met, who'd be married, have kids. Welp 2012 is here and I still feel like I'm 17, with just more life lessons under my belt. So I asked myself did I accomplish my goals? almost and everyday is a constant climb but I'm loving every minute of it. Last year was a roller coaster as cliche as that sounds it really was. Finishing university and the unemployed purgatory I faced, and the expeditions I went on with minimal finance. To my new awesome job and an internship I never wanna leave, I'm at a comfortable state right now, and extremely proud of the work I've done. With that said here are some photographs I took with Pretty Freedom for the golden girls photo series.

and a behind the seams video I made! enjoy :)

First World Problems and Sundays

Disclaimer: This specific entry is about first world problems, and basically a semi whine post on wanting something more with monetary issues and what not..if you dont give a shit proceed to read.

I bought a gift for myself, which in my opinion is well deserved. I've been soo good all year, somewhat and with my birthday in 2 weeks and the recent black friday sales..a good deal is a good deal. But alas we always want more, and are never content. For years I've always wanted a

DSLR, specifically a Canon Rebel, I'm always settling for the safe route. Bills suck butt but thank god I don't really have serious ones just yet, such as mortgage and what not. Last night I settled for a Nikon L-120 digital camera, because I was itching and impulsive for a new camera, specifically for this blog and for recording the adventures of my young adult years to come. I've been using my crappy old sony cybershot brick for about 10 years now and it was well about time I upgraded. Upon buying it my initial feeling was cool...but that was just it. I wanted more and will probably buy my dream camera..the thing is, I know I can afford it it's just a matter of well if I buy this, I won't be going out for a bit and with Christmas around the corner it's going to be a little hard to save. Also with future plans to move out within a year or two I really needed to get my shit together. The other part of me is like well shit you're working really hard and since this new job I havnt really treated myself other than that one $20 manicure I got at the mall. Life is short and we encounter random investments be it emotionally, our physical investments such as going to a gym, or dating, to buying a home. I feel as if as I'm getting older I'm starting to understand this growing up thing, and the leaping of faith. In order to fufill a certain level of contentment it's really all about making the jump, winning and losing some.

Anyways point is I think im exchanging this digital camera into an DSLR....happy birthday to me!

here we are yet again

Third post's a charm, I'm starting to feel like Madonna, or a reoccuring butterfly going in and out of its caccoon. Life definitely takes a weird turn here and there, BUT I honestly know now this is the place I want to be in. A favorite quote of mine that I always say to myself in my moments of reflection that usually occurs in the wee hours of the night while wearing a seaweed facemask is "nothing gold can stay" which came to my attention in grade 8 from the outsiders. Why I love this quote so much is because of its simplicity in the truth, which gives me humbling feeling, kind of like que cera. Anyways I find myself here again with yet another play on back to basics, and have decided to switch back to my original blog name Carousill. My main goal is to work towards my ideal life which is to basically have an everlasting good juju, chi, balance, etc. SO I'm giving this blog another shot. Theres alot more going in my life this time around, for one I'm doing an awesome internship, I'm working with the best people in an up and coming company, lifes just peaches. Next step: actually documenting physical evidence of this good life.

otis redding-try a little tenderness

everyday

Alright post deux, and it's been promising so far. Blogging is like that new diet you heard works

so you give it a try. Now I'm not new to blogging, I have soo many accounts, and like diets and pokemon you've catched/tried/used them all. But there's always that pikachu, or regime you stick to and it works. like new things such as shoes, clothes, etc you try to break it in so that you can get use to the notion of using said items. This is how this blog feels, I'm pretty much just "breaking it in" until I can find my comfort zone so bear with me :) I decided for my second post to make a collage based on basics of everyday wear. Now I'm not the best collage maker but I love polyvore and just putting together some things I usually wear on a daily basis, and pretty much things I wish I owned, or at least attainable enough to own. here are some things I've conjured up pretty simple, definitely comfortable and an outfit you can pretty much throw on when you're on the go. I've also added a song for dramatic effect...yeah not really

A New Wave

Life takes funny turns, and in the wise words of Nicki Minaj, "greatness is what were on the brink of".
